Just like most of you, I’ve been monitoring the rapidly changing updates concerning the Coronavirus. The Bible tells us “for God has not given us a spirit of fear, but one of power, love, and sound judgment.” In times like these, we must ask God for wisdom and act accordingly. It has become apparent to me, that we must take steps to help ensure the safety and well-being of our church family.

I want to quickly share with you some measures that we will be taking to reduce the risk as we gather on Sunday to worship.

We have developed a plan to clean and sanitize the facility to the best of our ability. This includes, for instance, disinfecting all common touch points after each service.

We will also be limiting interactions during the service. This includes two changes that you need to know before arriving on Sunday.

• 1. We will be suspending our welcome time. Please do not feel unwelcome if you are not greeted with a handshake or a hug. I would encourage everyone to limit physical greetings to an elbow bump.
  2. We will not be passing the offering plates during the service. Instead, we will have an offering box in the foyer and ushers will be stationed at the doors to receive your offering.

I also want to encourage those who may not be feeling well to stay home. This is not only wise, but it also protects the more susceptible among us. I also want to encourage our older congregants, especially those with underlying medical issues, to use wisdom if you choose to attend our worship gatherings. For those who choose not to attend, we will be publishing the message on our website following the service each week. If you do not have internet access, DVD’s and CD’s will be made available.

As we prepare, please remember that our community needs the church to speak hope, joy and peace in the middle of adversity. I hope we will be willing to cross the barriers and connect people to Christ!
