…to grow as His disciples with sound biblical teaching that is relevant to life

As a community of faith, we seek to grow in our faith through the study of God’s word. Discipleship happens when God’s truth is applied to our lives. 2 Timothy 3:16-17 (ESV) 16 All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, 17 that the man of God may be competent, equipped for every good work. Sound Biblical teaching is the pathway to mature and ministering followers of Christ.

In Ephesians 4:14-15, we see the reasons and method to reach maturity. Ephesians 4:14-15 (ESV) 14 so that we may no longer be children, tossed to and fro by the waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by human cunning, by craftiness in deceitful schemes. 15 Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ.

These are some good reasons.

  1. So we are no longer like children.
  2. So we are not carried away by false doctrine.
  3. So we are not caught in deceitful schemes.
  4. So we are more like Christ!

To grow as His disciple, we must be taught the truth in love.
